Villa Karli
Creissan Village

With a population of just over 1100 inhabitants, Creissan is a typical languedoc village, nestled between the sea and the mountains. The commune of Creissan was first mentioned as far back as 952 AD and the village church, l'Eglise Saint-Martin, dates back to 1132.
The villagers believe that Creissan has to be "discovered" rather than written about; the charm of the vineyards baking under the hot Midi sun, the heavy perfume of thyme, lavender and rosemary in the air, the crickets' melodical song and the tranquility of the countryside are all things that need to be "experienced" to be properly understood..
Villa Karli is located in the heart of the village, just behind the town hall (Mairie). There is a small general store and boulangerie/patisserie just round the corner from the villa, opposite the Mairie. In addition to the boulangerie, a bread van visits the road 7 days a week, selling a wide selection of delicious fresh breads and pastries.
The general store stocks a wide range of goods, with a fresh fruit and vegetable section, small delicatessen and fresh meat counter.
On Tuesday mornings, there is a small market in the village, where you can buy fresh local produce, including fruit and vegetables, cooked meats, cheese, fish, meat.
Elsewhere in the village, there is a pizza café, a snack bar, a tobacconist/newsagent, a post office, a hairdresser & barbers and florist.
Chateau Creissan (opposite the Mairie) produces some excellent AOC wines. It is well worth visiting the 'cave' to taste the selection of wines.
Within the village, there are plenty of things to do. The village provides a municipal swimming pool and tennis court as well as pretty public gardens, displaying local artifacts for decoration. In addition, there is a newly built children's sports area just across the road from the villa, where children can play football and basketball. Behind the florist's shop and tobacconist's, there is a children's play area with swing, slide, climbing frame and seesaw.
