A fine example local to Villa Karli is the beautiful hill side town of Roquebrun, where the river Orb winds its way along the valley, overlooked by the higgledy piggledy buildings of the town. The rivers offer an array of activities, ranging from kayaking to trout fishing.

Lakes

The Haut-Languedoc plateau with its four lakes (the Lac de Laouzas, the Lac de la Raviège, the Lac de Saint Peyres and the Lac de Vezoles) centred around the beautiful town of La Salvetat offers all kinds of water fun: fishing, dinghy sailing, canoeing and kayaking, wind surfing, pedal-boating and safe swimming in life-guarded calm waters.

The massive Lac du Salagou close to Clermont Herault is said to resemble a Martian landscape, with its deep red soil, oddly shaped hills and bizarre cactai and succulents. Perfect for a summer swim though equally popular with sailors, the Lac du Salagou and the other Languedoc lakes are a bit like "the seaside in the mountains".
