Restaurants and Cuisine
Whilst Villa Karli offers all the comforts of home & great cooking facilities, there is a vast selection of fantastic restaurants worthy of a visit.
It is worth bearing in mind that in general, the French eat their main meal at lunchtime, and as such, many restaurants only serve food at noon.

Le Pressoir, Cazouls les Beziers - fantastic restaurant which caters for all tastes - excellent fish & seafood, steaks, salads, pasta and pizza - and is excellent value
L’Auberge de la Croisade, Quarante - gourmet restaurant on the banks of the Canal du Midi.  Gastronomic menu using local specialities.
Le Petit Nice, Roquebrun - lovely restaurant with beautiful views over the river below.  A few tables are outside on a small terrace overlooking the hillside.  Varied inexpensive menu with children’s menu.  Be warned the portions are enormous!
Restaurant du Port, Agde - lovely restaurant serving fantastic seafood and other dishes on the banks of the river.  Good value and a beautiful setting
L’Auberge du pont de Reals, Cessenon sur Orb - Savoyenne style food with an excellent atmosphere and right on the River Orb.  The menu caters for all tastes but you may have to book.
Le Vieux Puits, Maraussan - Gourmet restaurant in the heart of the village. Menus change seasonally - it comes recommended.
La Marmite du Pecheur, Valras Plage - in front of the marina at the end of Valras Plage.  Doesn’t look that special from the outside but once inside, the welcome is warm and the food is excellent.
Le Pressoir, St Chinian - on the outskirts of the village.  Reputed to be incredibly welcoming serving fantastic food.
Le Provence, Capestang - In the centre of the Canal du Midi village, a fine restaurant perfect for all tastes and pockets. Service is friendly and the portions generous.  Well liked by locals and travellers alike the restaurant is popular.
Le Pourquoi Pas, Capestang - Overlooking the Canal du Midi, open from the beginning of April to the end of September.  Varied, inexpensive menu.  It can get very busy of an evening, so worth reserving a table.
La Boucherie, Magalas - a butcher’s shop by day and a restaurant at noon and in the evening. Monsieur Lefevre, the chef, is a former circus type and Madame, who handles the room, is a former dancer. Lots of good, simple fresh food and there is certainly character and atmosphere.
