The Haut-Languedoc plateau with its four lakes (the Lac de Laouzas, the Lac de la Raviège, the Lac de Saint Peyres, the Lac de Vezoles) centred around the beautiful town of La Salvetat offers all kinds of water fun: fishing, dinghy sailing, canoeing and kayaking, wind surfing, pedal-boating, swimming on guarded beaches....It's a bit like "the seaside in the mountains".  Above is the massive Lac Salagou

The  gorge river valleys of the area most notablythe Herault, the Orb and the Aude offer stunning scenery (see left the picture of the orb winding its way through the beautiful hill side town of Roquebrun) with crystal claer waters and activities from the obvious such as canoeing to the not so obvious  such as learning Gold Prospecting
